Out of Office

Hey everyone,

Sorry, it's been so long since I've updated halfassedproductions.com , but I've been on vacation. I went to Orlando, FL. I checked out Disney World & Universal Studios. So, I've got lots of articles in the mix to post.

I would put up an article right away, but I've been working on planning a Halloween party & making a Haunted House out of a garage. So, I don't have much free time to add something new to the site. But, I promise I will be cranking out some new articles with in the next few days.

Here's some of the articles you can look forward to:

my vacation (disney / universal)
the halloween party
the haunted house
another delicious food / drink review
a review of a classic board game (pig pong)
& much more...

If I have time before halloween, I'll put up a quicky article about some halloween merch.

I hope you can bare with me during this busy month, but I'll be back on track soon..

The Nigerian Spam Scam Scam

We all have received the Nigerian Spam email. Dean Cameron began corresponding with one of the scammers. Writing as a lonely millionaire from Florida whose only companions were a Philippine houseboy, Kwan, and two cats, Mr. Snickers and JoJo the Dancing Clown, Cameron lured the unsuspecting scammer in to a nine month correspondence.

Batteries and Bullshit

Hey there,
Well, I haven't posted a new message to my blog for awhile, so I thought I would tonight.

Let me tell you about how crappy my life has been lately. This weekend I went to get my lug stud fixed on my car at Car-X. Well, of course they noticed I also needed 2 new tires and 2 struts. So, I ended up paying a crapload of money for all that stuff. Then on Monday night I went to the store, when I left, I went back to my car, turned the key, and nothing. My battery was completely dead. I asked a bunch of people in the parking lot to help, of course no one had jumper cables.

My brother came out to help me. I bought some jumper cables (which is also an awesome drink which is Whiskey & Jolt Cola) from a nearby walgreens. The idea was to jump my car, then goto a store to buy a new battery, and I'd replace the battery in the morning. Well, we jumped the car, I made it about 2 feet before it died. So we tried it again. It died again. We realized I had to go buy a battery and install it that night. So I dropped more money on a battery, installed it, and the car started up just fine.

On my way home from replacing my battery, my car was really sluggish, it would hesitate, and it was idling really high. I ended up calling work in the morning, telling them I'd be late because of car problems. My check engine light had been on about a year, I really haven't had any problems, but I figured I'd go to Autozone to see what the check engine light meant. They said the code it was giving was a faulty MAP Sensor. I looked up a MAP Sensor for my car online, of course it cost $188 bucks. So, I asked the guy at autozone what I should do. He said to check the hoses and tubes connected to the MAP sensor. I asked him where the map sensor was. He didn't know. He said to go to a Mazda dealer, and they'll print me a schematic of under the hood, and they'll show me where it is.

I went to Mazda, they printed me what I needed. I found the map sensor, checked all the hoses and stuff connected to it, they looked fine. I did notice I had a torn hose going to my air filter. I tied a rag around around the crack in the hose. I started up my car, it idled fine. I drove it around, and it seemed to drive just fine. So, I went back up to AutoZone, asked them if they had a new hose. Nope, they didn't. They said it was a dealer only part.

So, I went back to Mazda, bought the hose I needed. I replaced the hose and the car ran great again. My check engine light is still on though. I think I really do need a replacement map sensor. Maybe I can get one from U Wrench It. Actually U Wrench it just changed their name to Pick N Pull. Anyway, maybe I can get a cheap one from there. I hope.

Well, in other news or whatever. I rented Bullshit from Netflix today. It's actually a show on Showtime called Penn & Teller: Bullshit!. It's a really good show. The disc I rented had 4 episodes on it. There was one about Peta. About how much of a shitty organization they are. I'm no good at explaining what they said, but check it out. The other episodes were: War on Drugs, Love & Romance, and Safety. It's a really great show, and I highly recommend it. I watched all four half hour episodes on the disc. Normally, I wouldn't do that unless I really liked a show. Plus there was absolutely nothing on TV tonight (Mythbusters was a rerun)

So, I guess that's all that's been going on lately in my life. Hopefully everything starts getting better soon. I hate spending a ton of money on my car. Especially money that I don't have. Well, till next time... see ya..

It's Always Sunny...

Hey Again...

I don't have much to say today. I didn't do much. I did make $70 bucks from fixing a computer, so that's good news. One of the highlights of the day was watching a new TV show on FX called "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia". Holy Crap! This show is so good. I'm talking, it's got potential to be another Seinfeld. I guess it appeals to me because everyone on there is my age, 28. And they own a bar. It's 3 guys & a girl. Just check it out, New Episodes come on Tuesdays @ 10pm.

Besides that, Not much going on. Oh did I mention the computer I was working on had a cd in the cdrom. Guess what was on the cd? pr0n!!! Imagine that..

Pirates of Silicon Valley

Hey,
Well, today I was able to fix a computer that I've been meaning to fix for a long time now. It was just a modem problem or something. The problem was that it was a Windows 2000 machine, and of course the person who is having me fix it for him didn't give me his password. Well, thanks to this software, I was able to reset his admin password and gain access to his computer. I can't even remember what the problem was with the computer. I think it was just the modem was acting up. So, I slapped a modem that I had laying around in the box, and viola, it's working great.

I also decided I'd give the new beta version of Windows a try. It's called Windows Vista. The code name before they came up with vista was 'longhorn'. I'm glad they changed it. I tried installing it on a Dell, Pentium 4 , 2.4 GHz machine. It took probably about an 1 1/2 hours to install. Which I though was crazy, plus it didn't have the proper drivers with it for the video card in the Dell to work. So, I basically looked around a little bit with it, then I just reformatted the hard drive. I just couldn't deal with the crappy resolution. Hopefully the next release will have more video drivers included.

I finally watched the movie The Pirates of Silicon Valley. I really liked this movie. It's about the lives of Bill Gates & Steve Jobs. The only problem is that they left out a few holes. For example, they left out the part where Steve went to work for Atari before he founded Apple. I was also confused by the box, it shoes Steve Jobs wearing glasses. He never wears glasses in the movie. I guess it's stuff to nitpick. It goes from 1971 to 1997. They need to make a part II to this, or maybe there is something that kind of continues this story. If anyone knows any closely related movies let me know. Anyway, I watched a VHS copy. It's actually coming on DVD on August 30th. I highly recommend this.

Other than that, not much else going on today, I'll add another article to my website tomorrow. Til next time... see ya...

Drumstick for Sale

Hey everyone.

So, my day at work was ho-hum. Then I found out my boss isn't going to be at work tomorrow. That means, no one to look over my shoulder. Woohoo.

I finally put something up for sale on ebay. I am selling a drumstick that I caught at the warped tour back in June. I caught a stick from the band 'My Chemical Romance'. They're a pretty popular band now, so hopefully I can cash in on it. You can check out the auction here.

I also put up a new article on my website. It's about my recent trip to Vegas. I had so much information, I'm going to have to make it into a 2 or 3 part article. Anyway, part 1 is up now, so check it out here
